Ace Academy update

Members of the Ace Academy Task Force (made up of a team of parents and educators from Patrick Henry Community College and our school,) met again recently to discuss final adjustments to The Ace Academy Program. We discussed proposed academic schedules, potential fees associated with the program, publications and a communication plan.

This task force is made up of a terrific group of people who've worked hard to bring this program to fruition at our school. Here is the timeline as we move forward:

• There will be an informational meeting for Carlisle faculty only on February 17th. This meeting will bring the faculty up to speed with arrangements and answer any potential questions that they have.
• On February 22 and again on February 25 at 7 PM in the auditorium there will be an open meeting for any parents and/or students interested in applying to become a member of the Ace Academy, or who simply wish to extend their dual enrollment credit through Patrick Henry Community College. Applications will be available to families who attend this meeting. All members of the Ace Academy Task Force (including representatives from Patrick Henry Community College) will be available on both of these evenings to answer all of your questions. The February 25 meeting will also be open to students from the other school districts. Any interested Carlisle Student (9^th-rising 12^th grade should attend this information meeting to find out what courses may be appropriate for them.) Current Carlisle families will be given first priority for placement into these programs.
• By March 1 applications will be available to students online, if they were unable to attend either the first, or the second open meeting.
• March 12 will be the deadline to submit completed applications to Carlisle’s Ace Academy.
• On April 15 the Compass Test will be given to all students who wish to take courses for dual enrollment purposes and those who have submitted an application to the Ace Academy. Testing will take place on the Carlisle campus.
• April 30 will be the date when successful candidates will be notified of their acceptance into the first cohort of the Carlisle Ace Academy.
• Mid-May all acceptance letters to students who wish to take additional dual enrollment classes with PHCC will be announced.
• Summer sessions for courses will be held IF THERE IS SUFFICIENT INTEREST from May 24 through May 27 at PHCC.
• Summer sessions will be held from May 31 through June 4 at PHCC
• August 25 all Ace Academy students will return to Carlisle to begin their junior year of courses towards their Associates Degree. All of these courses will be taken at Carlisle School in conjunction with their regular graduation requirements.
