Early Childhood

Preschool 2, 3, & 4

At Carlisle, we believe preschool is a time of wonder—a daily journey where learning comes alive through curiosity, connection, and delight. We are inspired by the spark in each child’s eyes, the wide smiles, the warm hugs, and the exuberant energy they bring with them each day. Their natural curiosity fuels our passion for creating meaningful, play-based learning experiences that encourage exploration, discovery, and growth.

Our well-rounded curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support kindergarten readiness while celebrating the magic of early childhood. Through engaging experiences in language and literacy, math, science, social studies, Spanish, music, and movement, children build foundational skills in a way that feels both meaningful and fun. Each area of learning is brought to life through hands-on activities, creative expression, and purposeful play—all guided by caring teachers who understand the importance of nurturing the whole child.

By the time children transition to Lower School, they are confident, capable, and eager learners. Their early experiences at Carlisle provide a strong foundation for academic success and a lifelong love of learning. Surrounded by support, encouragement, and opportunities to thrive, our students move forward with the skills, self-assurance, and curiosity they need to succeed.

Program Highlights

  • Small class sizes allow for personalized attention and strong teacher-child connections. Your child will be known by all of the admissions staff, faculty, and staff.
  • Safety is a top priority at Carlisle, and our School Resource Officer welcomes families each morning in the carpool line.
  • We offer a balanced, child-centered curriculum that includes discovery-based learning and hands-on exploration to promote kindergarten readiness.
  • It fosters compassion, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking through a multisensory approach that engages all learners.
  • Children are encouraged to collaborate and build social skills while immersed in play-based activities that support meaningful learning experiences.
  • The program nurtures self-confidence and encourages a lifelong enthusiasm for learning in a supportive, engaging environment.

The Early Childhood experience is rich in activities beyond the four walls of the classroom.

World Languages

We understand the importance of offering world languages for children at an early age.  In the preschool, instruction follows a modified immersion model with a concentration on culture and conversation.

Physical Education

Students in preschool participate in a 30-minute physical education class each day.

Technology

The school incorporates a best practice approach by integrating technology at all levels. iPads and Apple TVs are used to enrich the curriculum.

Arts

The arts serve a unique purpose in the educational development of each student. Classes strive to encourage and nurture each child’s natural creativity and curiosity. Weekly music and creative movement classes focus on musical awareness, sensitivity, vocal development, and fine motor skills. All students perform on stage several times a year. In addition, every Monday, the Lower School gathers for a flag ceremony, where each class takes turns leading and speaking—helping students build confidence and practice public speaking in front of their peers.

STEAM

A STEAM laboratory is available to students in grades Preschool through 5th in order to enhance the classroom experience.

Story Time

Preschool students go to the library weekly for storytime.  They are exposed to various literary traditions to expand their vocabulary, strengthen their listening skills, and enrich their imagination.

Field Trips

Students have several opportunities for off-site experiential learning with field trips.
