Middle School
6th - 8th Grade
Middle School at Carlisle is where students are encouraged to explore their interests, take on new challenges, and discover their potential. With supportive teachers and a vibrant school community, these years are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and prepare students for the next step in their academic journey.
The Middle School provides a research-based curriculum that challenges students across science, mathematics, languages, and the humanities. Through real-world applications, interdisciplinary projects, and inquiry-based learning, students strengthen their problem-solving and critical thinking skills while also developing essential research, writing, technology, and public speaking abilities.
A hallmark of the Carlisle Middle School experience is the 8th Grade Forum, a capstone milestone for every student. Each year, 8th graders are assigned a topic to research in depth. They conduct interviews, form a stance, write a comprehensive paper, and deliver a formal speech before the entire Middle School and a panel of judges, who ask follow-up questions. This experience equips students with advanced skills in research, writing, public speaking, and problem solving—skills that prepare them for success in Upper School and beyond.
With opportunities to perform on stage, engage in project-based learning, and explore a variety of extracurricular activities, Carlisle students gain poise and confidence throughout their middle school years. Supported by a 10:1 student-teacher ratio and a strong academic foundation, our students thrive in a college-preparatory environment—reading over 3,000 books each year and building the habits of lifelong learners.
